ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Director of Industrial Food Quality is a senior executive responsible for establishing and driving the strategic direction of quality across all industrial food manufacturing operations. Serving as the organization’s highest authority on food quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, this role plays a critical part in shaping company culture, safeguarding brand integrity, and delivering measurable business performance through a commitment to quality excellence.
This position partners closely with executive leadership to align quality strategy with organizational goals, ensuring that all manufacturing sites operate at the highest standards of food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Quality Strategy & Vision
- Developing and implementing long-term quality roadmaps across multiple manufacturing plants and business units
- Championing a proactive and sustainable food safety culture at every level of the organization, from the production floor to the executive suite
- Leading enterprise-wide quality transformation initiatives designed to elevate organizational quality maturity
- Establishing quality governance frameworks that support scalable and consistent performance across all sites
- Regulatory & Compliance Leadership
- Ensuring full and continuous compliance with all applicable regulatory frameworks, including FDA, USDA, FSMA, GFSI, HACCP, ISO 22000, SQF, BRC, and CODEX
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with regulatory agencies, certification bodies, and industry organizations
- Providing strategic oversight of crisis management protocols, including product recall planning, execution, and communication
- Monitoring the evolving regulatory landscape and proactively adapting organizational practices to maintain compliance
- Executive Leadership & Organizational Development
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Directors, Managers, and Quality professionals across multiple sites
- Building long-term organizational capability through structured talent development, coaching, and succession planning
- Engaging and influencing C-suite executives and board-level stakeholders on quality-related investments, risks, and strategic priorities
- Representing the quality function in executive leadership forums, strategic planning sessions, and cross-functional initiatives
- Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Establishing enterprise-wide quality KPIs, performance scorecards, and reporting frameworks
- Driving a culture of data-driven decision-making through the use of advanced analytics and integrated quality management systems
- Leading and championing Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence programs across all manufacturing facilities
- Continuously benchmarking organizational performance against industry best practices and competitive standards
- Cross-Functional & External Partnerships
- Partnering with R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to integrate quality into all aspects of the business
- Leading and managing strategic quality relationships with major retail, foodservice, and industrial customers
- Overseeing enterprise-level supplier quality management programs to ensure supply chain integrity
- Actively engaging with industry associations, trade organizations, and standards bodies to represent the organization and stay informed of emerging trends
